Watch every movie trailer that aired during Super Bowl 2024

While there are those who spend Super Bowl Sunday calculating just how long it would take Taylor Swift to fly from Tokyo to Las Vegas, watching whatever toilet hijinks the Charmin Bears get up to in their commercial this year, or…you know, watching the sports, there are also those who are here for cinema. From a first look at the Wicked movies to Deadpool 3 (now officially titled Deadpool & Wolverine) to Twisters, here are the movie trailers that aired during the big game.

A Quiet Place: Day One

Starring Lupita Nyong’o, Joseph Quinn, Alex Wolff, and Djimon Hounsou. Set in New York City on day one of the alien invasion, a woman named Sam (Nyong’o) is on a day trip to the Big Apple with her cat Frodo when all hell breaks loose. Directed by Michael Sarnoski (Pig), A Quiet Place: Day One hits theaters June 28.

Despicable Me 4

Starring Steve Carell, Kristen Wiig, Will Ferrell, Sofia Vergara, Chloe Fineman, Stephen Colbert, and Joey King. Gru (Carell) and Lucy (Wiig) have a new addition to the family, Gru Jr. They are forced to go on the run from new adversaries, Maxime Le Mal (Ferrell) and his femme fatale girlfriend Valentina (Vergara).

The Fall Guy

Starring Ryan Reynolds, Emily Blunt, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Hannah Waddingham. Directed by stuntman-turned-acclaimed-action-movie-filmmaker David Leitch, The Fall Guy follows Colt Seavers (Reynolds), a longtime stuntman who’s working on a movie made by his ex-girlfriend (Blunt) when he’s tasked with finding a missing movie star he routinely doubles for, Tom Ryder (Taylor-Johnson). The Fall Guy opens in theaters May 3.

Kung Fu Panda 4

Starring Jack Black, Viola Davis, Awkwafina, Dustin Hoffman, James Hong, Bryan Cranston, Ian McShane, and Ke Huy Quan. Po, the Dragon Warrior (Black), is tapped to become the Spiritual Leader of the Valley of Peace, which means he has to find and train a new Dragon Warrior before he can assume his new lofty position. Even worse, there’s been a recent sighting of a wicked, powerful sorceress, Chameleon (Davis), a tiny lizard who can shapeshift into any creature, large or small.

Deadpool & Wolverine

Never one for humility, Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool declares himself to be no less than “Marvel Jesus” in the new trailer for his third outing as the Merc with a Mouth — but his first as an official part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This movie also marks the return of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine to the big screen, after he supposedly bid farewell to the character with 2017’s Logan. Although it had been assumed that the movie would just be called Deapool 3, this trailer reveals an official title that speaks to the prominence of both costars. Award-winning Succession star Matthew Macfadyen is also along for the ride, playing a TVA bureaucrat who seems to be in charge of incorporating Deadpool into MCU continuity.

Also, talk about guerrilla marketing: Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively is right next to Taylor Swift in her box at the Super Bowl.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes

“What a wonderful day!” That line, uttered so memorably by the villains of Mad Max: Fury Road, has become the motto of a different post-apocalyptic franchise with the new trailer for Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The fourth movie in the franchise is the first by director Wes Ball, set many years after Matt Reeves’ acclaimed trilogy. “We certainly think there is a lot more story to be told,” Ball recently told EW.

At long last, one of the most successful Broadway musicals of the 21st century is coming to the big screen. The first trailer for the long-awaited Wicked movie is full of iconic images: The green skin of Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo), the pink clothes of Galinda/Glinda (Ariana Grande), winged monkeys, the Emerald City…and a young girl named Dorothy, who might play a bigger role than in the musical.

Glen Powell’s big year continues. Fresh off his rom-com Anyone But You and with his new Netflix movie Hit Man on the horizon, the Top Gun: Maverick star is also filling the late Bill Paxton’s shoes as the star of the upcoming sequel to the 1996 tornado thriller. True to the plural title, the new trailer for Twisters reveals that these storm chasers will have to deal with two storms at once. Daisy Edgar-Jones (Where the Crawdads SingNormal People) stars alongside Powell in the new film directed by Lee Isaac Chung (Minari).

Starring Ryan Reynolds, Steve Carell, Cailey Fleming, John Krasinski, Fiona Shaw, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Louis Gossett Jr., Alan Kim, and Liza Colón-Zayas. Fleming stars as a young girl who can see people’s imaginary friends and works to reconnect forgotten IFs with their kids. The film opens in theaters May 17.

Monkey Man

Starring Dev Patel. The anonymous Kid (Patel) ekes out a meager living in an underground fight club where, night after night, wearing a gorilla mask, he is beaten bloody by more popular fighters for cash. After years of suppressed rage, Kid discovers a way to infiltrate the enclave of the city’s sinister elite. As his childhood trauma boils over, his mysteriously scarred hands unleash an explosive campaign of retribution to settle the score with the men who took everything from him. Monkey Man premieres in theaters April 5.

Inside Out 2

Starring Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Lewis Black, Tony Hale, Liza Lapira, and Maya Hawke. The young Riley is now a teenager, so while the emotions think they’ve been doing a great job, they can’t account for growing pains. In comes Anxiety (Hawke) to shake things up.
