- The trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine teases an upcoming Avengers film, potentially setting up Avengers: Secret Wars.
- The appearance of a comic book cover from 2015’s Secret Wars suggests a connection between the two movies.
- Deadpool’s multiversal adventures may serve as a prelude to the events of Avengers: Secret Wars and could potentially save the MCU.
The brand-new trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine features a major Easter egg for an upcoming Avengers movie, three years before its actual release. Starring Ryan Reynold as Wade Wilson and Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, one of the best duos in Marvel Comics is finally coming together on the big screen the way they were meant to be seen. However, the multiversal antics at play may have drastic ramifications for the future with one of the next Avengers films.
The trailer for Deadpool & Wolverine begins with Wade Wilson’s birthday, featuring both Vanessa and members of X-Force whom Deadpool saved using time-travel at the end of Deadpool 2. To that end, the consequences have seemingly caught up with Wilson with the arrival of the TVA who promptly arrest the Merc with the Mouth and intend to make him a hero within the greater MCU. However, the end of the Deadpool & Wolverine trailer features a major tease for 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars.

Deadpool & Wolverine Trailer Easter Egg References Secret Wars
Comic Book Issue From 2015’s Secret Wars Crossover
Just ahead of Wolverine’s shadow which is seen before Hugh Jackman’s Logan picks up Wade, a tattered comic book cover is seen lying on the ground next to Deadpool’s body. Remarkably, it’s none other than an issue from 2015’s Secret Wars crossover, the Marvel Comics story which is widely expected to serve as the source material for 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars. To that end, the sixth Avengers movie is expected to drastically change the overall status quo of the MCU and may go as far as to reboot the entire universe as it’s currently been established since 2008’s Iron Man.
To that end, it’s just as surprising as it is incredibly exciting to see Secret Wars already being referenced so early (and in such a meta fashion). After all, a strong theory is that this wasteland-esque realm Deadpool has found himself in is none other than the Void at the End of Time, a likely possibility considering the TVA’s confirmed involvement in Deadpool & Wolverine. Wherever this issue is from, it likely originated from a reality that’s been erased from time itself.
How Deadpool & Wolverine Could Set Up Avengers: Secret Wars
Saving The Marvel Cinematic Universe?
With Deadpool boldly claiming that he’ll be the one to save the MCU as “Marvel Jesus”, it does seem as though the multiversal elements at play may serve as a dynamic prelude for the events of Avengers: Secret Wars. Perhaps Deadpool and Wolverine will be the ones to kickstart events that lead to a massive incursion and the clashing of various realities, not unlike what’s seen in the Secret Wars of the comics. However Deadpool & Wolverine does or doesn’t set up Avengers: Secret Wars, this new Easter egg is pretty exciting all the same.
