Bangladesh also announced the World Cup squad
Dhaka: Bangladesh also announced their squad for the ICC World Cup 2023.
The Bangladeshi board announced their squad and unveiled the jerseys in an interesting way through a video on social media. The team will be led by Shakib-ul-Hasan while other players including Mushfiq-ur-Rahim are also included in the squad.
The Bangladesh team will be missing its famous batsman Tamim Iqbal in the World Cup, who has not been included in the 15-member squad due to a back problem.
It should be noted that Tamim Iqbal surprised everyone by suddenly announcing his retirement from international cricket on July 6 this year, but the next day he changed his decision after meeting Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajid.
🚨 Tamim Iqbal will not feature at the World Cup
Tamim Iqbal could not play the Asia Cup due to injury. After reversing his retirement decision, he scored 44 runs in the second ODI against New Zealand last Saturday, only to suffer back pain after the match.
The medical team decided to rest Tamim Iqbal for the third match against New Zealand today (Tuesday). However, the team’s squad has been announced some time ago, which does not include Tamim Iqbal.
Bangladesh is the last team to announce their squad for the World Cup, after which the lineup of all teams’ squads is now complete. The Bangladesh team will play their first match in the World Cup on October 7 against Afghanistan in Dharamsala. Bangladesh will play Pakistan on October 31 in Kolkata.
